Our client is the leading provider of healthcare software solutions and services for clinical decision support, informatics, triage nursing and assessment. As the original creators of groundbreaking healthcare software, their services benefit over 50 million people in England. An opportunity has now arisen for a Data Centre Support Engineer to join their team.

As the Data Centre Support Engineer you'll be responsible for providing full infrastructure operational support for two of the company's data centres to ensure availability meets customer SLAs in a 24x7x365 environment.

This will involve installing, configuring and commissioning operational equipment, and assuming responsibility for maintenance upgrades, monitoring hardware and system performance post implementation. You will also provide remote support for managed service equipment deployed on customer sites. Ad hoc travel to the company's Southampton data centre will be required.

Your duties will also include:

- Responding to operational incidents ensuring resolution within defined SLAs
- Carrying out changes to systems in line with the change management process
- Ensuring all systems are monitored and performing efficiently and contributing to service improvement plans
- Producing and maintaining documentation

To be considered for this position you must have:

- Experience in a 3rd line support role
- An MCSE or MSCTS qualification
- An understanding of supporting network infrastructure

Knowledge of the following is also essential:

- Configuring and supporting Windows 2003/2008 Server & Juniper Netscreen firewall
- Configuring Netscreen fail-over (NSRP) and Cisco switches and routers
- VLAN configuration
- HSRP & VRRP
- Network troubleshooting (Traceroute, debug, TCP dump and etc)

As the Data Centre Support Engineer you should also be a team worker with proven customer facing skills. You will also need a 'can do' attitude and a full UK driving license. Experience working with data centres would be beneficial to your application, as would a CCNA or CCNP qualification.
